Police probe reveals life of Benin-based businessman not safe ‎

Ibadan, Oyo – A police investigative  report issued by the Oyo State Police Command has advised one Kingsley Simeon Owere who miraculously escaped from the den of  kidnappers on January 29,2024 to stay away from public circles while efforts are on to track down the gang.

‎The report dated February 15, 2024 and was signed by ACP Deebom Emmanuel on behalf of the DCP, State CID Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, indicates that Kingsley Simeon Owere and others were attacked by a gang of kidnappers on the Lagos–Ibadan road while en route to Lagos.

‎The report further said while they were being taken into the bush, Kingsley recognised one of their captors as the same notorious criminal that killed his father in their Benin residence on December 31, 2010.

‎It added that Kingsley was immediately marked for elimination, but somehow, he miraculously escaped from the kidnappers' den.

‎"His case was initially reported at the Eleyele Divisional Police headquarters, Ibadan but later transferred to the Department of Criminal Investigation via letter No: AR: 3100/OY/ ELE/VOL.2/40 dated February 2, 2024 for discreet investigation", the report said.

‎It said a team of detectives detailed to handle the case visited the crime scene where it was ascertained that Kingsley  Simeon Owere and other persons were indeed abducted  by kidnappers while en route Lagos on January 29, 2024.

‎The police investigation also revealed  that Kingsley was able to recognise one of his abductors as one Lucky Alexander  who participated in the gruesome killing of his father in 2010 in Benin City.

‎"The fact that he was able to recognise one of the kidnappers as the notorious criminal that killed his father before he escaped from the kidnappers hideout, obviously puts his life and that of his immediate family in grave danger.

‎"In the circumstances, the victim is advised to stay away from his immediate environment and public circles within Nigeria for his personal safety as well as that of his wife and children while detectives intensify the  search for the perpetrators of the heinous crime", the report concluded.
