Gunmen kidnap traditional ruler's son in Edo

Ogan, Edo – Armed men suspected to be Kidnappers on Wednesday night abducted, Mr Wilson Igbinovia, son of the Enogie of Ogan dukedom in Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State, HRH George Igbinovia.

The armed men numbering three, were said to have fired shots into the air as they stormed the house at palace road in Ogan community, where the elderly traditional ruler and some of his children and grandchildren live.

According to an eyewitness account, the kidnappers left the traditional ruler who was eating at the time, and held one of the son, Efe Igbinovia they mistaken for Wilson Igbinovia.

After they had identified their target, Wilson, they left with him.

Policemen from the Abudu police divisional headquarters and soldiers attached to a nearby military checkpoint later arrived the scene of the incident.

"The kidnappers hold one of the Enogie son, Efe and shoot into the air. As Wilson Igbinovia came out due to sound of the gunshots, they hold him and leave Efe. They dragged him away through the nearby bush.

"They also left the house with a mobile phone and power bank. The police and soldiers later came after the kidnappers have left", the eyewitness narrated to BENDEL Mirror

However, the Edo state police command said they were yet to confirm the kidnap incident.

"We don't know about it because it's an overnight case. It's only when we get to the office (today)", SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the command’s spokesperson told our reporter in a telephone chat 

The whereabouts of Mr Wilson Igbinovia is still unknown as at the time of this report.
