Boko Haram attacks Dangote workers' base In Zamfara, kills woman, 4 others

A woman, Mrs Happiness Idehen was among the victims of a deadly Boko Haram attack on a camp housing Dangote workers in Zamfara state.
The camp is located at Garki Community in Gusau Local Government Area of the state.
The incident which occurred on May 5, 2024, is said to be one of the deadliest incursions carried out by the Boko Haram insurgents in recent time.
Four employees of the popular cement company, Dangote Group and the wife of a truck driver with the company were killed in the attack.
Our correspondent learnt that the attackers stormed the camp which was occupied by the workers who are mainly Christians at about 8pm on the fateful day and shot sporadically into the houses.
"They later set some of the houses ablaze", a resident in the area told journalists.
One of the victims, Mrs.Happiness Idehen was living in the camp with her husband, Uyi Endurance Idehen.
The workers were told to vacate the camp for fears of another attack while the drivers were ordered to move their trucks to the company's head office in Lagos.
Boko Haram which is literally interpreted as "Western education is evil" has been a torn in the flesh of the Nigerian society.
The group regularly carries out raids on communities, killing and kidnapping women and children. Before now, the group operated mainly in the North East and North Central states of Nigeria.
But of recent, the group has extended its nefarious activities to parts of the South west where it carries out frequent kidnapping of travellers on major roads and highways in the south west and south south regions of Nigeria.
