Asaba, Delta – In a bold move to modernize public transportation, the Delta State Government, through its Ministry of Transport, has unveiled an ambitious transport reform plan, set to kick off with the construction of standard bus terminals in Asaba, Warri, and Sapele.

The announcement, made on Friday, via an official post on X by the state government, comes as part of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s vision to align the state’s transport sector with global best practices.

The initiative, dubbed "Delta Transport Reform," aims to transform the region’s public transit system by establishing organized transit hubs equipped with modern facilities.

The first phase will see the development of terminals featuring waiting areas, ticketing halls, and digital information systems, with Asaba Terminal highlighted as a flagship project.

The plan promises to decongest major roads, eliminate indiscriminate loading points, and enhance commuter safety and comfort while creating jobs and boosting the local economy.

As Delta State grapples with urban growth and transportation challenges, this initiative could set a precedent for regional development.

The government has yet to release a detailed timeline or budget, but with construction set to begin in the coming months, all eyes are on Asaba, Warri, and Sapele to see the vision come to life.
